This small project was to move my old gaming system over to a full server rack case, and turn it into a small team speak server for friends and myself. Currently it is Running Vista as well as folding beyond team speak (Voice over IP free server / client).
UPDATE: 3/5/2007: I changed the OS from Vista beta because it was about to expire over to Linux CentOS 4.4, I am still using the system to Fold, as a team speak server, but I also added a dyndns (Dynamic DNS - updated every 6 hours), I also setup up Samba (SMB) to use the server as a storage device for review Images.

it also works great as a shelf for NSLU2 Network storage system, my binary clock and a place for CD's to be placed on it.
Quick Look at things:
Ok lets take a quick look through the process of putting this together. We also have in the 1st few pictures the site's Quality Assurance helper (My Daughter, and yes I am a proud father). 1st this was that I received the case from edazz.com . As you can see it is a 19" Rack mount case. I ordered a Power supply to come with it, but at the time I put this together DHL had it lost in one of its disruption centers (at the same one for 4 days) I called friday and asked if they lost it / and if they were ever going to deliver it. They finally got it to may greedy hands on saturday after this machine was up and running.
My daughter did help me unpack the case just so she could play in the box.

Front pannel was removed to add the dvd burner as well as placing the card reader in the location for the 3.5" drive.
Wiring everything up was not that hard, just made sure that things flowed through and the wires were not stopping the air flow.
Over 2 years now I have been using this case and the only time I really don't like it is when I have to get inside of the case. It is not one that can be upgraded or fixed without planning a couple of hours for moving the items on it and taking it out of the rack.
Update: 5/1/2007: I have received a 2nd rack system but this one is not going to be on all of the time as a 1U server is louder than I want in my house. It is a Tyan GT20 with a AMD 180 processor, 2 gigs of ram and 1 TB of storage space. Centos 5.0 is loaded on it
.: Thank you! :.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this quick project.
