Spider Version 2
More parts and less parts make a spider take for ever to build..

last we were looking at 2 legs being build and moving with the servo driver. I have since got more pieces in and taken the legs apart ?? Why well I found out I was able to build a BiPed robot with what I had and a couple of extra pieces.

Here is what has distracted me on my spider project. For more information on him please see my write up on GideonTech.com.

Now that I have also gotten more servos and more parts (I think I can build 6 legs total and servos enough for 4) But I will have to take the little guy apart. So before I do that, I want more of the body built and here is what I have done. I have 2 sheets of 12" X 24" of Aluminum, I have my 10" X 12" peice of UV acrylic that I been thinking about using as one of the sides for the Motherboard trays.

I have cut up one of the pieces of aluminum that I have and will be using them for the top and bottom of the spiders body that the legs conect to. above is one of the templates that will be used. I am thinking about changing the way the tabs sit so I wont cut those just yet. Below is the scrap piece that is left over after cutting the 2 pieces out.

One with the Hole I start cutting that out and will use that piece later on to cut out a test foot with the thicker aluminum.

Getting ready to make the last cut, I figure I needed a picture, and found out that I really need to use the flash, the 2nd picture is the one with out the flash, it did get a nice flow from the band saw light.

Piece is cut out at my stoping point for now.

Time to cut some of the lexin I have that is already at 8" square (it currently is at 8" x 10" ), just need to save one side down. I will use the band saw for the quick cutting. The 2 pieces laid out and ready to go.

Band saw makes for some quick work on the plastic, no cracking or melting with the blade at 3000RPM (80" blade). Edge is not the streightest but not bad, I have one spot I did a small bump at the left side (See a small about of the line left). Below that is what the factory edge and my edge look like (Factory is the one where my hand is over lapping).

Now for a rough idea how all of these peices are going to fit together. 1st is all of the pieces stacked together, then the 2 aluminum pieces with some PVC spacer for now, this will be spaced out so the servos that act as a Hip will fit between the to pieces.

And here it is with the to acrylic / lexin pieces, Between those I will place the Mini-itx mobo and PSU.
